360 Product Photography Pricing: What a Spin Really Costs

Compare dated 360 product photography prices, distinguish frames from spins, and budget for capture, editing, viewer and shop integration.

A 360 product photography quote should price a finished rotation, not leave you guessing how many frames, edits or software charges are included. Public examples checked for this guide include a US studio starting at US$109 per spin and a German supplier starting at €27 per product for a qualifying volume order. They describe different offers, not a global price range.

Before comparing either with your budget, specify the product size, number of SKUs, views per rotation, editing scope and how the spin will work in your store.

First, agree on what “360” means

A photographic spin combines images captured around a real product into a presentation the customer can rotate. Amazon describes the technique as capturing an image set and assembling an interactive animation. That does not mean every marketplace image slot accepts an interactive viewer. Amazon product photography guide.

A still image, a video of a rotating product and a 3D model are separate deliverables. Shopify, for example, documents 3D model uploads as GLB or USDZ files. A folder of photographic frames is not automatically such a model. Confirm the required delivery format with your store implementer before booking production. Shopify product media documentation.

Do not convert these into a claim that a spin “normally costs €27–$109.” Currency, quantity, size limits and scope differ. Neither entry establishes that hosting or storefront installation is included.

Ask these questions before accepting a quote

What is the capture specification? State SKUs, variants, product dimensions and weight. Ask for frames per rotation and whether the offer covers one horizontal rotation or additional elevated views. Request a sample matching your product's material and shape.

What does editing cover? Confirm background cleanup, support removal, color consistency, reflections and treatment of labels. Ask whether editing is included per finished spin or charged per frame. One unclear unit can change the project budget substantially.

What files arrive? Request the final image sequence, naming convention, resolution and any promised viewer package. Clarify whether you may retain and reuse the frames if you change your software supplier.

How will the shop display it? Identify who installs and tests the viewer. Confirm any recurring hosting or license fee, supported devices, static fallback and expected download size. Request a test on your actual product page before rolling it out to the catalog.

What happens if a rotation fails review? Define acceptable consistency, missing frames, product-detail errors and the included correction process. Clarify return shipping and who keeps the product until approval.

These are procurement questions, not claims that every studio charges each item separately.

Build an all-in budget

Use one currency and a consistent tax basis:

Project budget = capture + separately billed editing + setup and logistics + integration + recurring viewer costs for the chosen period.

For per-frame editing:

Editing subtotal = SKUs × frames per spin × editing rate per frame.

Illustrative arithmetic only, not supplier pricing:

  • 20 SKUs × an assumed €80 capture fee = €1,600.
  • 24 frames per spin × 20 SKUs × an assumed €1 editing fee = €480.
  • Assumed setup/logistics: €150.
  • Assumed storefront integration: €200.
  • Assumed hosting: 12 months × €15 = €180.
  • First-year total: €2,610 before VAT, or €130.50 per SKU.

If editing is already included in the capture quote, remove the €480 line; the same scenario becomes €2,130. If hosting is bundled, remove that line too. The example is useful for finding double-counted or missing costs, not predicting what your supplier will charge.

When is a spin worth testing?

Start with a product where the rotation answers a real buyer question: controls on the back, the position of a port, or a shape that is difficult to understand from one view. A spin may not add useful information when a clear front view and a single detail image already answer the question.

Test a representative product page. Can a mobile shopper discover and operate the control? Is a useful still image visible before interaction? Can the shopper inspect important details without the page becoming frustrating to load? Record the answers before commissioning the rest of the assortment.

Do not budget on an assumed conversion uplift. A pilot should measure your implementation and audience, and distinguish changes in the images from changes in price, traffic or availability.

Can AI still images replace the spin?

Not as the same deliverable. A generated scene can supplement a product gallery, but it does not document a complete captured rotation of the actual item. Do not treat like.photo's accepted still-image allowance as a quote for a 360 capture, model or viewer.

For the rest of the gallery, use the product photography pricing guide and the shot-list workflow. Decide which buyer questions need a spin and which are better served by approved still photos.

A quote request you can copy

“We need a quote for [number] SKUs, each [dimensions/weight], with [frames] frames per rotation and [viewing angles]. Please specify capture, editing, final file format and resolution, viewer/hosting, integration, usage scope, revisions, turnaround, product return and tax. Separate included work from optional extras. We want to approve one representative spin in our actual storefront before the remaining production.”
